Seeing Canada, one number at a time
I arrived in Toronto six years ago with a newcomer’s greatest asset: fresh eyes. You see a country differently when you’re learning its systems from the ground up. You notice the gaps between policy promises and lived realities. You see the people behind the numbers.
Behind every statistic on immigration, there is a family navigating a new life. Behind every economic report, a community is striving for its place. Behind every transit plan, a neighbour is weighing the distance between home and opportunity.
The Human Plot was born from this perspective. It’s a project dedicated to exploring Canada’s public data through the lens of human impact. We connect the quantitative dots of policy to the qualitative realities of daily life, aiming to understand not just what is happening, but why it matters to the people living it.
Our work is rigorous, non-partisan, and fiercely committed to clarity. We believe that by showing the human side of the data, we can foster a more informed and empathetic public discourse.
This is where data finds its story. And it’s how we truly begin to understand the country we now call home.
